About Jason
My first project was a cheap old beaten up bike with the shock in the middle of the frame. I wanted to put a 212cc harbor freight engine on this bike but there was no room so I had to get creative. I borrowed a friends saw, did some measurements, and cut the bicycle frame up. I bought a welder and some steel to rebuild the frame and engine mount. And so it began!
Next I bought a chain, clutch, sprocket and got fabricating. The whole project took me 4 month due to lack of funds and mistakes. I built the engine mount wrong at least once and had to take the welds apart with an angle grinder and dremel....not easy, very time consuming. It got frustrating at times but more fun than not. My son helped a lot which also got frustrating but was more fun than not.
So I finished this little 212cc beast, it wasn't the prettiest thing or the lightest but I built it and it worked! I remembered the first time trying to ride it, I was so scared it would fall apart even though I experienced the durability of my welds first hand fixing my miscalculations. After I took a couple test drives and predicted it was “safe” it was time to open her up and see how fast she goes and how it handles. This bike didn't even have brakes yet! Good thing I didn't care for my sneakers anyway and would use them as brakes on the ground.
I rode and it handled nicely. Hills were no challenge. Im almost positive this 212cc bicycle hit 50 miles per hour. It was more fun than I believed it would be.
This was the start of Motopsychos505. I loved building this little motorized bike but there had to be a better way. I spent over $500 and 4 months on this and it took me a month to sell it for $175. So I did some research and found engine kits that go on bicycles, I was in love! I immediately ordered the engine kit for $150 and found 2 used bikes for $25. Both were left outside and were so dirty they couldn't even pedal. I spent all night cleaning these bikes and bringing them back to life. When I was done they looked almost new. So I was ready for my engine kit to go on.
I really didn't know how to assemble this I've never seen this before but If I was able to build a bike with a lawn mower engine I could definitely do this.
I received the kit and it took me about 8 hours to build. I learned a lot and got better each time. Now it takes about an hour and a half to bring a bike alive. I love the motorized bike life.
Everyday I wake up and continue my education on these engines and business. I love learning about everything I can. I firmly believe we must strive to learn everyday or we start dying. From the time I wake up till the time I fall asleep I am either building, learning or thinking of ways to improve business or life...just ask my wife Karissa. She is very understanding but I get so into what I'm trying to accomplish I sometimes don't take the time to just stop for a kiss. I love you baby!
We are constantly learning how to improve our motorized bicycles whether it be quality, prices speed or just sales. I love this business and enjoy it more everyday!
